Apple or Pear? Your “Fruit” Shape can reflect what your Hormones are doing and Hinder Weight Loss

Contrary to popular belief, there are 3 types of estrogen- These are called Estrone, Estradiol and Estriol. Generally speaking, often people who are a apple  shape have more estrone, whereas people who are a pear shape have more estradiol.

The thyroid controls how quickly or slowly you burn up calories. If you have higher than normal levels of estrogen, this can slow down your thyroid and your metabolism.

It’s not always about diet and exercise

During advertisements and news programs we are taught that to lose weight, you need to eat a healthy diet and exercise. These two aspects of weight loss are essential, however, there can be other things that can be  going on in your body that  prevent you from losing weight- like higher than normal estrogen levels.

“If your internal biochemistry isn’t working properly, then you can’t burn fat efficiently”

At The Period Pain Guru, we look at how your hormones are affecting your weight and whether this is influencing you not being able to reach your goal weight.

Why not see what’s happening with your hormones today?

Why you Need to Decrease Plastics Around the House

Plastic is everywhere around the house, workplace and Plastic water bottles can contribute to period painnowadays in the garden.

The issue with plastics is that they emmit chemicals which can have a toxic affect on our body. Some of these chemicals are called ‘hormonal disruptors’, meaning that they play havoc with your hormones.

At all costs, try to avoid Bisphenol A (BPA). BPA is known to have estrogenic affects on the body. Therefore your estrogen levels can increase. This happens in both men and women- notice men are getting more man boobs these days. So avoid heating plastics, because more than likely, it will contain BPA.

  1. Avoid letting your water bottle heat up in the car and then drink water.
  2. Don’t microwave food with clingwrap on it.
  3. Try not to buy food wrapped in plastic.

Instead…..

  1. Buy a BPA free waterbottle (you can get these from Katmandu).
  2. Use a bowl with a plate over it to heat up food in the microwave.
  3. If you can, buy your food fresh. Supermarkets are now covering all of our food in platic- and you don’t know if it was sitting on a dock somewhere in the heat. Go to the local grocer and use paper bags (which you can also reuse).

Have you been using plastics for too long? Why not use one of the Period  Pain Guru’s detox’s that helps to clear false estrogens? Be Proactive Rather than Reactive.

What Can Be Done About Stress?

When you are stressed, it puts your body into a ‘catabolic’ state. This means that your body doesn’t repair as quickly. Have you ever noticed that when someone you know has gone through a major stress in their life, that they look 10 years older?

  • Do you feel like you never have enough time to do everything you need to do in your day?
  • Do you use caffeine to give yourself a boost in energy or to give yourself the kick-start that you need in the morning?
  • Do you get stressed when you are stuck in traffic?

If you have answered ‘Yes’ to one or more of these questions, then your body may be in a catabolic state.

Here are 3 pointers to help get you back on track.

1)      Eat lots of fresh vegetables. Aim for 5 different coloured vegetables at lunch and dinner. Vegies have anti-oxidants, which help to reduce the stress on your body.

2)      Eat regular meals. If your blood sugar levels are out of balance, this will put a stress on your body. Eat 3 main meals and 2 snacks per day.

3)      Reduce or cut out the coffee. This can be a very difficult thing to do. Sometimes cutting it down slowly is easier.

These 3 tips will help to get you started, but if you answered  ‘YES’ to any of  the above questions, then your stress may need a bit more expert advice. Specific herbs, nutrients and lifestyle changes will mean that you will be stress free for good. If this sounds like something you need to do then call me on 1300 21 44 25 to find out about what you can do to get to the cause of your ‘catabolic’ or ‘not repairing’ state.

So get back into your ‘Just got back from holiday’ mode and start feeling great and living your life well the whole month through!
